Brian Coyle

Brian Coyle A Social Science degree and roles as a field social worker and Further Education lecturer provided a solid grounding in the motivation of others, and Brian's subsequent career choices have always focused on human growth and encouraging others to stretch their potential.

Brian has successfully led on key national standards such as the Investor in People award and is an approved trainer with Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations. His extensive knowledge and experience covers all aspects of the training cycle including training need analysis, programme design, testing validity, quality delivery and evaluation.

Since 1999 he has led the “Funny Business” project which along with award winning comedians, TV scriptwriters and world champion magicians aiming to help us “lighten-up at work.” He believes that we can take our role seriously but ourselves lightly and that satisfaction at work combats various stressors that arise for many employees.

Brian has carried visiting Lecturer status at Glasgow Caledonian University since 2003. In the same year he also obtained endorsed award centre status from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and has since taken over 450 individuals through a nationally recognised first line manager qualification.

Within the human resource development arena Brian has worked for many blue chip organisations in a wide range of sectors including oil and gas, computing, banking and the drinks industry. His career has taken him all over the UK, Europe and North America, often in unusual circumstances, for example delivering training on board nuclear submarines, oil rigs, and lighthouse ships.

Brian has a real passion for learning and believes a learning organisation is a growing organisation. As an experienced training practitioner he is used to working to contractors’ high standards of delivery, tight deadlines and on occasion challenging course delegates.

Clients include Diageo, ChevronTexaco, RBS, Motorola, The NHS and various departments within the Scottish Government.
